From the lowest dungeon to the highest mountain I fought with him, the Balrog of Morgoth. Until at last I cast my foe down and smote his ruin on the mountainside. The darkness took me and I lost myself from thoughts and time. Stars rolled overhead and each day was as long as the life of the Earth. But that wasn't the end. I felt life in me again. I have been sent back... until my task is accomplished.

"Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli follow their hobbit teeth into the darkness of the ancient forest of Fangorn. Dark and dangerous is this ancient forest; a remnant of the great forest that once covered much of the wild lands east of the mountains. Like the gnarled trees, hanging over them begin to moan ominously to each other, the three hunters are alerted to the presence of a mysterious, cloaked figure.

'The White Wizard approaches,' Legolas warns, and anticipating the appearance of their enemy Saruman, the trio let fly sword, ax and arrow, only to be thwarted by a blinding spell. Quickly overcome, the friends' thoughts turn to the worst, and in exasperation and fear, their enemy demands to reveal himself.
But the end has not come this day, for as the brilliant light fades and his gray cloak falls, there stands no fallen wizard, but a friend from the borders of the mortal world; Gandalf has returned.

'I am Gandalf the White and I will come back to you now at the turn of the tide.'
