In the enchanted land of Oz, a brave girl discovers a mysterious metallic figure on the edge of the yellow brick road. Hidden by trees and bushes, a man made entirely of tin and completely rusted mumbles in agony for his oil can. After freeing him from his rust prison and helping him move and speak again, he tells her his sad story of feeling empty inside because the tinsmith who made his body forgot to add a heart. He then joins young Dorothy in her search for the enigmatic wizard who can help her return to her home in Kansas and perhaps give a heart to her new friend. Based on the original 1900 novel, considered the first North American adventure, set on a farm in the Kansas countryside, the story's protagonist, Dorothy, an orphan girl in her early teens, and her pet dog Toto, are swept away by a hurricane along with their house. Sucked into the heart of the storm, the house spins until it lands and Dorothy realizes that she is not in Kansas anymore and that she must have crossed the rainbow. She finds herself in a place with light blue skies, beautiful green hills, tall trees with juicy fruits and giant flowers in a wonderful landscape. Glinda, the beautiful Good Witch of the North appears right in front of her and tells her that she is in the magical land of Oz and that her house fell on the Wicked Witch of the East and killed her. Dorothy is declared a hero by the Munchkins, little people who suffered as prisoners of the Wicked Witch, but her green-skinned sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, rises to avenge her and claim her magical Ruby Slippers, which are now in Dorothy's Possession.
